Gaia Hatha Yoga Postures
by Swami Mantrananda
|
|
This is a
collection of Gaia Hatha Yoga postures demonstrated by Swami Mantrananda.
These Gaia Hatha Yoga Postures connect us with the Earth as
a conscious field of living beings. This conscious
field includes man at the top and other animals that even
man considers to be extremely intelligent. Much of the
Earth has psychic interconnections. Many people have
communicated with the Animal Kingdom. According to the
Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, a Yogi eventually learns about the
animal world and the living nature of the Earth, now called
the GAIA principle. The following
postures are a part of over 1500 Hatha Yoga Postures that
Swami Mantrananda has collected and are important to have
tried. There are 18 different types of Hatha Yoga
Postures of which Gaia Postures are only one variety.
Place your order at
Bookstore of Swami Mantrananda for the Four Seasons Yoga
Book. It is about these Gaia Postures and the 18 different types of Yoga postures. |

Earth Pose: Yoga Name:
Swastika asana
Friday: January to August, October to December [Best day to
do the posture]
Type Of Pose: Gaia Pose / Meditation
Source Of Pose: Ancient Yoga
This is the most important posture for
meditation on the Earth Principle. Use this posture
only on Friday to meditate so you can attain Earth Element.
Try to meditate silently and let the posture do the work.
The hands are open and resting on the legs. Do not
touch the thumb to the first finger. The toes are put
between the calf muscles and the thigh muscles in this
posture.
According to the doctrine of Shankya
Yoga, man tends to experience himself as Spirit and the
Earth as part of his body and as a separate principle.
Thus we have Spirit, as the person meditating and Earth as
the field in which the meditation is done. To meditate
in Earth Posture helps us know both the Spirit and the
Earth. To love the field of meditation as the Earth is
to save all Earth beings. This is just the beginning
of all spiritual work.

"Prospecting for Gold"
Yoga Name: Modified Uttanasana
Wednesday: Spring [Best day to do the posture]
Type Of Pose: Gaia Pose / Forced Yoga
Source Of Pose: Leslie Bogart, Yoga Journal, May / June
2003, p. 119.
Place your hands just above the knees as
shown. The back is kept straight. The feet are
placed about under the hip joints. This posture helps
straighten out the back. The Yogi is prospecting for a
different type of gold in this posture. He wants his
own light to be a part of the planet. The gold to be
found is of light and happiness. This posture helps us
attune the Earth as a planet rich in natural resources.
The Yogi is to find his place in the process of making the
best use of all planetary forces and elements. Then
the planet will have man be the master part of Gaia.
At the present time, the Gaia Hypothesis is only a
hypothesis, and it will not remain a hypothesis if you use
all our natural resources according to the highest powers of
Yoga.
